My Aunt Daphne drover us out to the house she lived in with my Uncle Norm – Moomin Place in Busby – a suburb of Sydney. This house appears in the documentary made by film director Peter Weir in 1973 ‘Whatever Happened to Green Valley?’. This documentary saw a number of residents who lived in Green Valley housing estate in Busby given video cameras and asked to document their every day lives. Daphne and Norm’s next door neighbour was one of the participants and during the process they were both included within the filming. In the video below we travelled to the house and even met with the current homeowners who graciously invited us inside to have a look around. Norm appeared in a brief BBQ scene in ‘Green Valley’ and some stills from that film appear further down as is a shot of us exiting 9 Moomin Place. I did not film within the house as it did not seem appropriate seeing as we turned up on spec. Daphne had a lot of great stories to tell though of her children, my cousins playing in the street and with the neighbouring children.
