William Ransom was the second child and first son of James William Eyre Ransom and Mary Eliza Ransom (nee Meads). Born at 270 High Street, Brentford at 6:30am on 26th January 1881 poor William was to live just 9 days, passing away on 4th February 1881 at the same address. Nothing else is known about William. There is an entry for him written in the family bible but no official records have been found to date. When his parents JWE and Mary Ransom were exhumed in 2021 we asked if there was any sign of a baby buried there but there was not. Quite often in those days when a baby or young child died they would often be buried with a stranger who was also being buried. This was called a Tandem burial. This practice continued until the early 1980’s. We do not know if this was the case for William.
