Born at the end of 1756 in Holkham, Norfolk to Thomas and Mary Ransome. He was baptised on 2nd January 1757 aged 0 at Holkham. Not much is currently known about William due to the age of records and lack of newspapers. We know he was married to a Mary but as to which Mary this was we do not know as of yet. The village of Holkham and it’s people though are well documented thanks to a book called ‘The Holkham People’ by Maurice DeSoissons and the extensive record keeping and diaries from the archives kept by Holkham Hall.
William and Mary had their first child, a son end of 1781/ start of 1782. They named him William and he was registered in nearby Burnham Market and baptised at Holkham on 25th February 1782.
