In 2022 I was fortunate to visit relatives in Australia and one of the stops was the town of Ainslie in Canberra where my great grandfather Herbert’s sister Maud Ransom lived with her husband Arthur Savage after they emigrated in 1911. Maud’s grandson John Savage took us on a personal guided tour of his beloved Ainslie and the places he played as a child and the home he lived in with her. Local historian Graeme and his wife Tammy spent an afternoon entertaining us with stories of their home that was once home to Maud and her family.
